Wullar Lake
DirectionLocated between Bandipore and Sopore, north of Srinagar, Wullar is one of the largest fresh water lakes in Asia. Due to its sheer size of 130 sq km, it is often termed as the mother of all lakes in Kashmir. Wullar is home to a number of varieties of fish including the endemic Schizothorax species and the non-native carp. The lake sustains a rich population of birds including the black-eared kite, Himalayan golden eagle, Himalayan monal, rock dove, Himalayan woodpecker and golden oriole
