Cooperative Societies District Bandipora

A Cooperative Department is a Government body that organizes, promotes and strengthens the Cooperative Movement by providing an administrative framework for member-owned democratically controlled businesses. The Union Ministry of Cooperation, established in 2021, revitalized the movement with a vision of “Sahakar-se- Samriddhi” (“Prosperity through Cooperation”).

Functions of the Department

Registration and Regulation: The department registers new cooperative societies and ensures they function according to the relevant Cooperative Societies Act and its rules.

  •   Promotion and Development: It guides and assists cooperatives, helping them organize and expand into various sectors like agriculture, consumer goods, housing, banking, and fisheries.
  • Supervision and Audit: The department oversees the proper functioning of societies, conducts regular audits of their accounts, and holds elections for boards of directors.
  • Dispute Resolution: It resolves disputes related to the constitution, management, and working of cooperative societies, and performs statutory and quasi-judicial functions.
  • Education and Training: It organizes training and capacity-building programs for cooperative members and officials to improve their management skills and promote good governance.
  • Rural Development: In many regions, the department focuses on strengthening cooperative institutions at the village level, such as Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), to serve farmers and rural residents.

02 Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras  (PMJAK) To make Generic medicines available to the rural citizens at affordable rates, Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies have been encouraged to operate as PMJAK A candidate with Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) is eligible to operate the PMJAK on the name of Cooperative Society The management of the  Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) is responsible to appoint the eligible License Holder B.Pharma  candidate for the operation of PMJAK Concerned Block Office, Sumbal/Hajin/Bandipora/ Gurez Two Cooperative Societies  
03 Pradhan Mantri Kissan Samriddhi Kendras To ensure availability of Chemical Fertilizers to the Farmers at the Village level,  Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS)  have been made eligible to act as fertilizer retailers  10th pass The candidate willing to apply had to go through Short Term Training Programme conducted by SKUAST for Setting up Fertilizer/Pesticide Sale points/units Approach concerned Block offices for further information about the scheme 5500  
4 Yuva Sahakar Yuva Sahakar Scheme aims at enabling Start-Ups in the Cooperative sector covering all types of activities ·         The Cooperative Society should be in operation for a minimum of three months

·         The Cooperative Society should not have incurred cash loss
