AYUSH Indian System of Medicines
The Department of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy) was a part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It was established in 1995 to promote education, research, and development of traditional systems of medicine in India.In 2014, it was upgraded into a full-fledged Ministry of AYUSH to give focused attention to these systems.The Ministry of AYUSH works to promote and regulate:
· Ayurveda – ancient Indian system of holistic healing
· Yoga & Naturopathy – lifestyle, wellness, and natural healing practices
· Unani – Greco-Arabic traditional medicine system
· Siddha – traditional system of medicine practiced in South India
· Sowa-Rigpa – Tibetan system of medicine
· Homoeopathy – holistic system based on “like cures like”
· It formulates policies, ensures quality control of medicines, develops educational standards, supports research, and promotes these systems globally as safe and effective alternatives or complements to modern medicine.
District Nodal office Ayush (which was earlier under District Ayush Office Baramulla) was assigned DDO Powers in 2019. Department of Ayush Bandipora has 20 Ayush Institutions including Ayush Center at DistrictHospital Bandipora.
Ayush Bandipora is providing Ayush Health facilities through daily OPDs and also conducting outreach Health Camps in which Free consultation and free Ayush Medicine is distributed , Yoga facilities are also provided to general public.
Functions of the Department
Daily OPD , Outreach/ awareness medical camps, daily yoga sessions, Regimental therapies and participation in all national.
Exhibitions
Celebration of International Day of Yoga Every year, Health Melas, PoshanMaah, Distribution and awareness on Medicinal Plants.
