Municipal Committee Hajin was established in the year 1986, Hajin is the backward frontier of Kashmir valley, full of scenic beauty. Dense forests and rich wild life make it significant from tourism and wildlife point of view. Town Hajin was carved out from erstwhile District Baramulla in the year 2007.The Town Hajin is situated at a distance of 30 Kmts from the summer capital of State i.e Srinagar. The Town is situated at an average altitude of 4200 feet from the sea level. This lovely Town is located in the extreme North-East of Kashmir valley.Hajin Town is situated on the left side of River Jhelum from Srinagar to Hajin road .Hajin Town has given birth the personalaties like Wahab Parray (Poet) , Professor Mohideen Hajni , Asad Parray , Gulzar Hajni ,Molana Rashid Sahib, Molvi Sideequla ,and  Molvi Mahad Sahib.
